Welcome back and welcome to BJHS!! A few things I want to make you aware of!
TOMORROW is drill day. We will be practicing lock down, tornado and fire drills. I have talked a lot to students about all three of these drills. After tomorrow, our drills will be unannounced.
WEDNESDAY is picture day! Students should have brought the packet home to be filled out. Students MUST bring their picture packet down with them when they go for their pictures with their science class. They will hand the packet to the photographer, not turn it in to one of their teachers.
We have been assessing, assessing, assessing!! All students have been great during this period of testing so we can see where all students are at academically. We do a lot with data here at the junior high so we assess at the beginning of quarters/semesters to see growth throughout the quarter/semester.
BOX TOPS--We collect box tops. It's like free money for the school!! Please keep an eye out for box tops before you throw things out at home. Save them up and have your child bring them in. I have a box in my classroom for box tops. Periodically they will be collected and sent in for money for our school!
TARDIES--Now that we are in full swing and students are more familiar with the junior high, we are counting tardies! Remember, students need to be IN THEIR SEAT and PREPARED for class BEFORE the bell rings! Running in the door or across the classroom to seats will still result in a tardy.
HAC--Please stay up to date with HAC. I am usually pretty good about grading things quickly and getting them entered.
LATE WORK--I grade late work as I have time, not when I get it. Students are responsible for keeping track of the work they have not turned in.
ABSENCES--Remember, it is the responsibility of the student to get work they missed when they are absent. I make note on a running document of what we do in each class. I use a doc because students are able to see this at home and can stay up to date on work they may have missed while they are out. They also have to check the folder if they miss any handouts.
DOJO--If you have not signed up for Class Dojo yet, please let us know if you need your code again. Class Dojo is a very easy way for you to stay on top of how your child is doing in each class.
7 O'CLOCK--I do not respond to emails after 7:00 PM. Whether a student or parent emails me after 7:00, I will not respond until the next day, possibly on my planning time. My planning time is 6th hour.
Communication is EXTREMELY important to me!! If you have any questions, please email me. Here's to a great year!!!
